In the last decade, Puerto Rico, like the rest of the planet, has experienced an increase in environmental temperatures.
Global warming is pointed to as the primary cause. According to an analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 2,300 people died last year in the United States due to the effects of excessive heat. There are some measures that can help us avoid the effects of high temperatures. The most common recommendations are as follows:
1. Stay hydrated by drinking water, both for yourself and your pets.
2. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and use sunscreen.
3. Do not leave people or pets in a closed car without air conditioning.
4. Wear light clothing.
5. Avoid vigorous physical activities.
